Kroger Looking To Buy Specialty Grocer The Fresh MarketFebruary 12, 2016
In addition to dealing with the TTB ruling, Kroger is eyeing a potential acquisition of specialty grocer The Fresh Market, Reuters reports. Fresh Market’s other suitors include TPG Capital, KKR and Apollo Global Management. The Fresh Market, which began exploring its strategic options last fall, could still opt not to sell, the report cautioned. The chain has 183 stores across 27 states, weighted to the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. Kroger has been on the acquisition trail of late, purchasing Harris Teeter for $2.4 billion in 2014 and Roundy’s for $800 million last year.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
