•California craft brewers Coronado and Bear Republic have partnered for the release of MerBear Rye IPA. The collaborative specialty offering (7.5% abv) is brewed with Amarillo, Hallertau Blanc, Centennial and Equinox hops. MerBear Rye IPA will be available in 16 states. Earlier this year, Coronado added to its year-round lineup with the launch of Stingray IPA, the first addition to the core range in four years. Bear Republic is best known for its Racer 5 IPA.

•Lexington, Virginia’s Devils Backbone Brewery is rolling out Cran-Gose, the first release in its 2016 Daypack series. The German-style sour ale (4% abv) was brewed with hundreds of pounds of pureed cranberries. The brewery’s Daypack series includes session beers that are all under 5% abv and packaged in canned format. Cran-Gose will be available through April in cans and on draft throughout the company’s distribution footprint of Virginia, D.C., Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. Devils Backbone operates two breweries in central Virginia, with the original brewery recently receiving an expansion that brought its capacity to 250,000 barrels.
