Bourbon Growth Leads Beam Suntory To Americas Sales Rise

Beam Suntory posted a mid-single-digit sales increase in its Americas region for 2015, led by strong progress for its Bourbon stable. Maker’s Mark showed robust volume growth in the Americas during the year, while fellow Bourbons Knob Creek and Basil Hayden’s were up by double-digits.

The core Jim Beam brand eked out a 0.7% increase in the U.S. market last year, according to Impact Databank, but Beam Suntory said momentum ramped up in the fourth quarter. Jim Beam has gotten a boost from better results lately on the core brand, as well as its launch of an apple-flavored variant. Rob Mason, the company’s vice president, U.S. Bourbon, recently told SND, “Jim Beam Apple is the most successful Bourbon innovation we’ve launched to date.”

Other brands on the rise for Beam Suntory in the Americas over the past year included the Laphroaig single malt, Hornitos Tequila and Midori liqueur. Globally, Beam Suntory’s alcohol business, also including its international beer and wine divisions, grew 15% to $9 billion.
