•Pennsylvania’s Victory Brewing and Western New York’s Southern Tier Brewing have formed an alliance under parent company Artisanal Brewing Ventures (ABV) that they say will allow them to maintain their independence while pooling collective resources. Together, Victory and Southern Tier shipped 250,000 barrels last year, placing the combined entity among the top 15 craft brewers in the U.S., according to the Brewers Association. Victory and Southern Tier have a combined capacity of 800,000 barrels. Both craft brewers, who say the deal will serve to expand and deepen their distribution across the U.S., will keep their existing leadership teams intact.

•Narragansett Beer is launching I Am Providence Imperial Red Ale, the fourth offering in its Lovecraft Series. Made with Pilsen, CaraRed and Vienna malts and Warrier and Citrus hops, I Am Providence is 8% abv and will retail for $12-$13 a six-pack of 16-ounce cans. Narragansett’s Lovecraft Series pays tribute to legendary horror author and Providence native H.P. Lovecraft.

•Anchor Brewing Co. has announced a new president, Matt Davenport. A 20-year industry veteran, Davenport was previously executive vice president of sales at Gruppo Campari. Davenport said initiatives for Anchor looking ahead will include new products, and an expansion of sales in major U.S. metro areas and overseas, as well as packaging innovations.
