•Kroger has made “a meaningful investment” in specialty grocery chain Lucky’s, which it says will significantly accelerate Lucky’s growth in new and existing markets. Specializing in natural, organic and locally grown products, Lucky’s is based in Colorado and operates 17 stores—averaging 30,000 square feet—in 13 states throughout the Midwest and Southeast. Lucky’s layout resembles an indoor farmers market, with “garage door” entrances, field bins, barrels and wooden crates.
