Ste. Michelle Sales Jump 8% In First Quarter

April 28, 2016

Ste. Michelle Wine Estates enjoyed a buoyant start to the year, with its first-quarter net revenues rising 8.2% to $145 million. The Washington-based winemaker’s shipment volume climbed 8.1% to 1.85 million cases during the period. Ste. Michelle parent group Altria attributed the solid results to strong performance among the company’s core brands—which include Chateau Ste. Michelle, 14 Hands and Columbia Crest—and the early timing of the Easter holiday.

14 Hands in particular continues to thrive, earning Impact “Hot Brand” honors with an 11% increase to 1.85 million cases in 2015. The brand, which recently launched a new Stampede Red Blend ($12 a 750-ml.), has expanded by 80% over the past three years, according to Impact Databank, and is in striking distance of crossing 2 million cases this year.
