Trone Will Step Back From Duties At Total Wine, CEO Kevin Peters Will Run Company

April 29, 2016

Undaunted by a loss in the Democratic primary to represent Maryland’s 8th Congressional District earlier this week, Total Wine & More cofounder David Trone will continue to pursue roles in public service rather than returning to run Total Wine’s day-to-day business. “My brother [Robert] and I will continue to own the company, but I definitely will not be running the company, and I will continue to look for opportunities in public service,” Trone told Bethesda Magazine.

Kevin Peters, the former Office Depot North America president who was named Total Wine’s CEO on January 1, has assumed day-to-day leadership, Trone added. Regarding future public service opportunities, Trone expressed interest in a potential presidential appointment if Hillary Clinton—whom he supports—were to become president, and did not rule out another Congressional run.
