June 20, 2016•Sonoma-based Bear Republic Brewing is adding Double Aught Pilsner to its year-round lineup. Formerly a draft-only summer seasonal, Double Aught will now be distributed year-round in 12-ounce six-packs and on draft across Bear Republic’s distribution territory. Inspired by the balanced light lagers of Central Europe, Double Aught is a 5% abv pilsner brewed with 100% barley malt and Hallertauer hops. Bear Republic is the 44th-largest craft brewer nationwide, according to the Brewers Association.
•Longmont, Colorado’s Oskar Blues Brewery is releasing Passion Fruit Pinner Throwback IPA nationwide this month. The 4.9%-abv limited beer is a spinoff of the brewer’s Pinner Throwback IPA and features pureed passion fruit and blood orange. Oskar Blues, which is backed by Boston’s Fireman Capital Partners, produced 192,000 barrels of beer last year.
•Pennsylvania’s Victory Brewing has unveiled Tart Ten, a new seasonal entry. A Belgian Dubbel ale at 10% abv, Tart Ten is made from pilsner and caramel malts and Czech Saaz hops and fermented with Brettanomyces yeast. Rolling out across Victory’s 37-state footprint, Tart Ten is retailing at $9.99 a 750-ml. bottle and is also available on draft.
•Houston-based Saint Arnold Brewing Company is introducing a Honey Saison as part of its Icon Gold series of collaborative beers. Made with Texas Wildflower Honey from Burleson’s Honey, the new offering is brewed with French Saison yeast; pilsner, wheat and Carapils malt; and Perle, Lemon Drop and Motueka hops. Saint Arnold Icon Gold Honey Saison (6.4% abv) is available on draft and in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles. Saint Arnold produces 10 year-round offerings, seven seasonals and three specialty series of beers.
