August 1, 2016•MillerCoors has agreed to acquire Eugene, Oregon-based Hop Valley Brewing Co. for an undisclosed sum. Operating out of a 30,000-square-foot brewery and taproom, Hop Valley distributes to Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho and Vermont. Known for its IPAs, its portfolio includes flagship Alphadelic IPA, as well as Citrus Mistress and Alpha Centauri. Hop Valley will join MillerCoors’ Tenth and Blake craft and import division.
•Kentucky-based Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. has forged several new distributor partnerships across the Mid-Atlantic, as well as in Rhode Island and South Carolina, for its American brandy and absinthe offerings. Copper & Kings has linked with Southern Glazer’s in North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia; Ledroit Brands in Maryland and Delaware; Rhode Island Distributing in Rhode Island; North East Beverage in Connecticut; and Breakthru Beverage in South Carolina. Its footprint now spans 27 markets. In addition to its core American Craft Distilled Brandy ($35 a 750-ml.) and Absinthe Blanche ($55), the company also produces Butchertown Brandy ($60), Un-Aged Apple Brandy ($30) and Immature Brandy ($30).
