News Briefs for August 30, 2016
August 30, 2016•Cape Classics is adding to its South Africa portfolio, with the Stellenbosch-based B Vintners brand joining the lineup. Bruwer Raats—winemaker for Raats Family Wines and Indaba—partnered with his cousin Gavin Bruwer to launch B Vintners, which includes white blend Haarlem to Hope ($27), Reservoir Road Pinot Noir ($27), Black Bream Pinot Noir ($33) and Fire Heath Chardonnay ($33).
•Heaven Hill Brands has unveiled the latest edition of its annual Parker’s Heritage Collection Bourbon. Rolling out next month, the 100-proof expression, which claims to be the oldest bottled-in-bond Bourbon on the market, is 24 years old and non-chill-filtered. Parker’s Heritage Collection honors Heaven Hill master distiller emeritus Parker Beam, who was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) several years ago. The special bottling ($250 a 750-ml.) will be available across select U.S. markets, with $15 from each purchase donated to the ALS Association. Between 2013 and 2015, Heaven Hill raised over half a million dollars to support ALS research and patient care through sales of Parker’s Heritage releases.
