Interview: John Hart On The State Of The Auction Business

John Hart, owner of three different Chicago-based fine wine businesses over the past 40 years, retired as chairman of retailer and auction house Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. (HDH) this past July. Hart is now serving as chairman emeritus of HDH and also will continue to consult with the firm, which he cofounded 12 years ago with partners Paul Hart and Michael Davis. Hart recently spoke to Market Watch about his experience in the auction world, as well as the state of today’s auction business.
