Wine Spectator Rates 2016 Beaujolais NouveauNovember 18, 2016
Beaujolais Nouveau has arrived again—and the race to the third Thursday of November became even more of a sprint this year because harvest occurred three weeks later than in 2015. Georges Duboeuf is making its first Nouveau effort with new importer Quintessential Wines after a three-decade partnership with Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits. Duboeuf’s Beaujolais Nouveau 2016 retails at around $12 a bottle. After years of decline, Duboeuf was steady at 180,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank. Quintessential, which will approach the 1-million-case mark this year across its portfolio, is focusing on Beaujolais Cru wines as it looks to re-energize Duboeuf in the U.S. Wine Spectator has more on the Beaujolais Nouveau tradition, as well as ratings on 2016 wines from key producers.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
