Impact Databank Study Measures U.S. Spirits Industry’s New Product Boom
February 3, 2017Some 500 new spirits products have been introduced in the U.S. market over the past two years, and only 67 of them sold more than 5,000 cases in 2016, according to a newly released study from Impact Databank. Those 67 new releases added 2.8 million cases to the U.S. spirits market’s total volume last year, accounting for more than half the market’s 2016 gain of 5.3 million cases, the study said.
Only 33 of those brands made it past the 25,000-case threshold last year, according to the study, and all 33 of those brands are marketed by one of the market’s top 10 spirits players.
