Exclusive: Diageo, Moët Hennessy Veteran Brian Cox Tapped As CMO Of Stoli Group USA

Veteran spirits marketer Brian Cox has been appointed chief marketing officer of Stoli Group USA. Cox’s 20-year career in the drinks business has included both U.S. and global marketing posts with Allied Domecq, Moët Hennessy and Diageo, where he was most recently director of the Scotch whisky portfolio in North America.

In his new role, Cox will spearhead marketing efforts across a Stoli Group portfolio that includes its namesake vodka brand, as well as Elit vodka, Bayou rum, Kah Tequila and Kentucky Owl Bourbon. Cox replaces Lori Tieszen, who has been CMO of Stoli Group USA since its inception in 2013. The appointment is effective March 1.

“We thank Lori for her many contributions to Stoli Group USA. She has laid a foundation with the marketing department that we will continue to benefit from for years to come,” noted Patrick Piana, president and CEO of Stoli Group USA. According to Impact Databank, Stolichnaya and its upscale Elit offshoot combined for 2.8% volume growth in the U.S. last year, reaching 1.7 million cases. —Daniel Marsteller
