•San Francisco-based Anchor Brewing Company has released Blackberry Daze IPA, its first ever fruit IPA. Featuring a blend of hoppy bitterness with tart blackberry notes, Blackberry Daze is currently available in bottled six-packs and on draft in select markets. The 6.5%-abv brew joins Anchor’s growing selection of fruit-forward beers, including previous launches Meyer Lemon Lager and Mango Wheat.

•Lagunitas Brewing is set to build a concert stage and bar on the roof of its 300,000-square-foot brewery and warehouse on Chicago’s north side. With a capacity of as many as 650 people, the venue would be modeled after an amphitheater at the company’s headquarters brewery in Petaluma, Calif., where as many as 15 concerts a year are staged. Until now, Lagunitas has hosted live music in its ground floor taproom in Chicago. Lagunitas’s founder, Tony Magee, is a musician who plays with the Chicago-based band Alice Drinks the Kool-Aid, with a tour of Europe planned by the band later this year. Also on tap is the opening of a second bottling line and expanded cold storage capacity in Chicago, as well as the opening of another brewery in Azusa, Calif. The Chicago Plan Commission must still grant zoning for the concert stage.
