Bacardi Names Vergara To New Role, Reshuffles Global Management TeamMarch 6, 2017
Bacardi Ltd has appointed Mauricio Vergara as senior vice president-commercial for Bacardi USA. Vergara, who had been serving as chief marketing officer for Bacardi in North America, will now be responsible for sales and commercialization of the entire Bacardi portfolio in the U.S. market.
Vergara has nearly 25 years of sales and marketing experience, 15 of them in the drinks industry. He has held key roles at Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, SABMiller and Brown-Forman. Since joining Bacardi in 2013, the Mexican-born Vergara has served in a variety of executive positions, including vice president of marketing and sales for Latin America; vice president, global commercial; vice president global category-rums; and chief marketing officer.
In addition to Vergara’s promotion, Shane Hoyne has assumed marketing oversight for North America, adding to his current role as CMO in Europe.
Elsewhere at Bacardi, as part of the appointment of company veteran Mahesh Madhavan to the global CEO role reported earlier this morning in SND, Bacardi is making several international management changes. Paolo Perego, currently regional president of Europe, is leaving the company. Madhavan will assume Perego’s role until becoming CEO in April 2018. Meanwhile, Alex Ouziel, currently vice president and managing director of Eastern Europe, will take over Madhavan’s role as regional president of Asia, Middle East and Africa and join Bacardi’s Global Leadership Team, while Oksana Pevtsova will replace Ouziel in the Eastern European role. —David FlemingSubscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
