Craft Brewing and Distilling News for March 31, 2017
March 31, 2017•Boston Beer Co. has released Samuel Adams 513, an American lager brewed exclusively for the Cincinnati Tri-State area. The beer is produced at Sam Adams’ Cincinnati brewery and was chosen from a selection of potential offerings by the city’s beer drinkers at last year’s Zinzinnati Oktoberfest. Samuel Adams 513 will be available on draught year-round throughout the Cincinnati area.
•Chicago-based Dovetail Brewery has partnered with Texas-based Artisanal Imports to bolster its distribution footprint. Beginning in April, Artisanal Imports’ Chicago-area sales team will focus on distributing Dovetail Brewery’s German and Belgian inspired beers throughout the city and immediate suburbs. The companies plan to expand the distribution area through the region as production allows. Ultimately, the partnership could lead to national distribution as Artisanal Imports distributes products in 47 states.
•The Chicago White Sox baseball team, which had been sponsored for 30 years by Miller Brewing, has replaced the brand with a group of four smaller brands that will share a marketing partnership. The four beer brands are Goose Island Beer, Pabst Brewing, Bell’s Brewery and Founders Brewing, all of them distributed locally by Lakeshore Beverage. Earlier, it was announced that the team’s import beer sponsor for the coming season would be Modelo Especial. The old Miller Lite Bullpen Sports Bar at the team’s stadium will be replaced this summer by a Craft Cave in right field, with more than 75 craft beers on offer. Sources say the new sponsors, in the aggregate, are paying less than the annual $8 million it’s believed Miller paid to the team.
