Control State Spirits Sales Rebound Strongly In March

April 24, 2017

Control state spirits sales posted a strong month in March, with volume up 4.4% and value rising 6.6%, despite a tough comparison from a year ago. The solid performance helped lift control states’ year-to-date growth, following softer months in January and February.

In the year-to-date through March, spirits volume in control states was up 2%, compared with a 4% rise during the same period last year. Likewise, control state shelf dollars were up 3.8% through March, versus a 6.7% increase in the first quarter of 2016. —Daniel Marsteller
