•New Hampshire-based Smuttynose has launched a new summer seasonal for 2017: Summer IPA. The 5%-abv beer is billed as a bright, hoppy session IPA that was initially brewed as a part of the brewer’s R&D program, Smuttlabs. In addition to Summer IPA, two session IPAs will exclusively be available at the Smuttynose Brewing Co. tasting room over the summer. Smuttynose Summer IPA is now available on draft, and in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles and cans throughout the brewery’s 20-state distribution area.
•Dogfish Head is bringing its full lineup of beers to the Kansas and West Virginia markets by the end of May. The brewery teamed with Mountain State Beverage, Northern Eagle Distributing and Mountain Eagle Inc. in West Virginia. In Kansas, Crown Distributors and Central States Beverage will distribute Dogfish Head’s products. Following the expansion, Dogfish Head will be available in 36 states and Washington D.C. Dogfish Head has expanded steadily this year: the company has also recently added distribution in New Mexico, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma and Alabama, and will open a new brewpub in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, on May 19.
•New York’s Shmaltz Brewing Co. has released its first canned beers. Slingshot American Craft Lager, a 5.3%-abv offering brewed with wheat, rye and bright, citrusy hops, is available in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans. Shmaltz’s 518 Summer Ale is a 5.2%-abv Belgian wheat beer brewed with pomegranate and is available in six-packs of 12-ounce cans.
