May 22, 2017•With Bordeaux’s 2016 en primeur campaign underway, some big names started to hit the marketplace with futures prices late last week. Among them were Château Palmer and the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild. Wine Spectator has up-to-date listings of all 2016 Bordeaux futures prices as they’re released.
•Christophe Juarez has been named managing director of Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte. Juarez reports directly to Nicolas Feuillatte chairwoman Vèronique Blin. Juarez joins Feuillatte from Cognac cooperative Unicoop, where he most recently served as CEO. Other previous roles include managing director for Burgundy’s Domaine Laroche, as well as executive and sales and marketing positions at Chanel, Cartier and L’Oreal. Feuillatte was up 8% to 62,000 cases in the U.S. last year and was the fourth-ranked Champagne brand in the market, where it’s handled by Ste. Michelle Wine Estates.
•Proximo Spirits has launched a new Honeydew flavor under its Jose Cuervo Authentic Margarita brand. Starting this month, the new 25.4-proof premixed offering is rolling out nationwide, retailing at $16 a 1.75-liter bottle. Honeydew joins Raspberry, Pink Lemonade, Mango, Strawberry Lime, Classic Margarita, Grapefruit Tangerine, Coconut Pineapple, Watermelon, Lime Light and White Peach Light in the Authentic Margarita stable. An Impact “Hot Brand,” Jose Cuervo Authentic Margaritas grew 16% to 1.5 million cases in the U.S. last year.
