June 14, 2017•Burgundy imports to the U.S. rose by about 3.5% by both volume and value last year, reaching 16.5 million bottles and €189 million ($212m) respectively, according to the Bureau Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bourgogne (BIVB). Over the first three months of 2017, the pace of growth accelerated, with U.S. shipments up 25% by value and 14% by volume. White wines account for the majority of Burgundy’s U.S. import volume at 64%, with reds and still rosés combining for a 27% share and Crémant de Bourgogne representing 9%. The U.S. remains the largest export destination for Burgundy wines worldwide, with a 23% value share and a 21% volume share.
•Davos Brands’ Astral Tequila has partnered with actor Jonathan Goldsmith on a new campaign. Featuring a video message directed by David Lipman, the campaign stars Goldsmith, who is best known for his iconic role as Dos Equis’s “The Most Interesting Man In The World.” Davos Brands acquired a controlling stake in Astral—a Blanco Tequila retailing at around $45 a 750-ml.—in March.
