•San Francisco’s Anchor Brewing has reportedly been acquired by Japan’s Sapporo Holdings Ltd. for an undisclosed sum, according to SFGate. Sister company Anchor Distilling is not involved in the deal. Established in 1896, Anchor Brewing is known for its flagship Anchor Steam Beer, with its portfolio also comprising the California Lager, Go West IPA and Blackberry Daze IPA labels, among other offerings.

•Bacardi’s Martini & Rossi will launch Riserva Speciale Bitter Liqueur in the U.S. in October. The liqueur is based on a 19th century recipe and is designed to pair with Bacardi’s Bombay Sapphire gin and Martini & Rossi Vermouth in a Negroni. The 28.5%-abv liqueur includes Saffron, Angostura and Columba botanicals. Martini & Rossi Speciale Bitter Liqueur is the third product in Martini & Rossi’s Riserva line, following Riserva Speciale Vermouths Rubino and Ambrato.
