August 15, 2017•Hood River, Oregon-based Full Sail Brewing has collaborated with former NFL quarterback Joey Harrington on a new barrel-aged brew. Available for a limited time, Harrington’s Bourbon Aged Northwest Red Ale is made with two-row pale, caramel red and caramel rye malts, as well as nugget hops, and aged for several months in Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels. The 10.2%-abv entry is available in 16.9-ounce bottles and on draft, with a portion of the brew’s proceeds benefiting the Harrington Family Foundation, which provides collegiate scholarships and mentorship support for Oregon youth.
•Denver, Colorado’s Leopold Bros. is partnering with Négoce Wine & Spirits to launch its small batch spirits portfolio in Minnesota. Leopold Bros. gins, whiskies, vodka, absinthe and liqueurs are now available in 25 states. Négoce is the newly formed distribution company of Mat Garretson, a former winemaker who most recently served as High West Distillery’s sales and marketing manager until Constellation Brands acquired the Utah-based distillery in October 2016.
•Dovetail Brewery in Chicago, founded a year ago, is selling its products outside Illinois for the first time with a new deal with Craft Roads Beverage to distribute in Indiana. Most of the distribution initially will be focused on the Indianapolis and Fort Wayne markets. Dovetail owners Hagen Dost and Bill Wesselink are focused on unfiltered German-style lagers and Hefeweizen and Rauchbier styles.
