•Diageo has revamped Captain Morgan with a new bottle design that will start hitting shelves this month. The new look includes updates to the embossing, cap and label. The Captain Morgan character is now depicted standing on a branded barrel, and the label has been augmented with a “cigar band” delineating the particular Captain Morgan variant. Altogether, the repackaging is intended to give Captain Morgan a more modern, upscale look. According to Impact Databank, the rum brand grew 3% to 5.8 million cases in the U.S. in 2016. In Diageo’s fiscal year, ended in June, Captain Morgan grew both organic net sales and volume by 4% in North America.

•City Winery, a hybrid winery, restaurant, music venue and private event space, has postponed the debut of its Boston location. Citing construction challenges posed by the size and complexities of the multi-use space, City Winery Boston—originally slated to open in September—will now open its doors on October 16th. All live performances scheduled on or after October 16th will go on as planned. The upcoming Boston venue will join City Winery’s existing outposts in New York, Chicago, Nashville and Atlanta, with a sixth location in Washington, D.C. set to open later this year.

•Alabama-based importer Vineyard Brands has named Lara Sailer Long vice president, director of brand strategy. Sailer Long was most recently executive wine director at Pebble Beach Food & Wine, and prior to that was western region director at Maisons Marques and Domaines. Vineyard Brands imports the La Vieille Ferme, Miraval and Marques de Caceres wine brands, among many others.
