Craft Brewing and Distilling News for October 17, 2017
October 17, 2017•The Brewers Association trade group is looking to fight craft beer consolidation with a provocative new crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising $213 billion to buy out Anheuser-Busch InBev. Running under the tagline “Take Craft Back,” the initiative takes aim at the world’s largest brewer, which has acquired 10 craft breweries since 2011. The campaign—which claims to have the largest crowdfunding goal in history—is being promoted via the #TakeCraftBack and #IndependentBeer hashtags, as well as the website TakeCraftBack.com. ABI acquired Chicago’s Goose Island Beer Co. in 2011, and has since added a slew of other craft brewers including Oregon’s 10 Barrel Brewing, Seattle-based Elysian Brewing and Arizona’s Four Peaks Brewing, among others.
