•Oregon’s Ninkasi Brewing Company will release the third edition of its Ground Control Imperial Stout in November. The beer, a 10%-abv stout brewed with hazelnuts, star anise and cocoa nibs, is fermented with yeast that Ninkasi launched into space in 2014. The brew is then aged in ex-Bourbon barrels before being blended with 10% unaged stout to enhance the herbal and chocolate flavors. Ground Control will be available throughout Ninkasi’s distribution zone in 22-ounce bottles. In addition to the standard Ground Control, Ninkasi will also release a “cask strength” version of the beer that clocks in at 11% abv.

•Colorado-based Pike’s Peak Brewing has partnered with Alta Marketing to bring its brews to California. Initially the brewery will release four of its beers—Gold (Belgian Golden Strong Ale), Elephant Rock IPA, Devils Head Red and the seasonal 38 Faces IPA—in BevMo stores throughout the state. These beers will be available in six-packs of 12-ounce cans beginning in November. The partnership marks the first time that Pike’s Peak’s beers will be available outside of Colorado.
