•With the holiday season fast upon us, Johnnie Walker, Jameson, Teeling, Bowmore and others have new specialty whiskies hitting the market. Whisky Advocate takes a closer look at the robust slate of newcomers in its latest installment of Whisky Weekend.

•Constellation’s Casa Noble Tequila has launched a new limited-edition, luxury expression. Made with 100% organic Blue Weber agave, Casa Noble Selección del Fundador Volume II is an extra añejo Tequila that was triple distilled and aged for eight years in new Taransaud 114-liter French white oak barrels prior to bottling. Only 300 bottles of the Tequila—retail priced at $1,499 a 750-ml.—are available worldwide. The Casa Noble portfolio also includes the ultra-premium and organic Crystal, Reposado and Añejo expressions.

•The Barcelo rum brand, imported by Shaw-Ross International and distilled in the Dominican Republic, is expanding early next year with the addition of the Barcelo Imperial Onyx, retail priced at $40. It will be matured in heavier-charred ex-Bourbon casks than its lower-priced cousin, the lightly-charred Imperial, which retails at $32. Distribution will start in five states in the first quarter and then reach 15 states by mid-year of 2018, according to Rod Simmons, brand manager for spirits, who added that Shaw-Ross is focused on building sales in the Midwest where the Barcelo label has had little exposure.

•Delicato Family Vineyards (DFV) has named Mark Merrion as executive vice president, sales. Merrion, an industry veteran of 25 years, was most recently senior vice president, U.S. sales and trade marketing for Treasury Wine Estates. Prior to that he held senior sales roles with Wilson Daniels and Diageo Chateau & Estate. Merrion will report to DFV president and CEO Chris Indelicato and will be based in Napa.
