•Michigan-based Blake’s Hard Cider has released Snap Dragon, its limited edition winter seasonal. First launched in 2015 exclusively in 22-ounce bottles, Snap Dragon now returns to the market in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles retailing for $11.99. The semi-sweet cider is made with rum-soaked, sun-dried Michigan grapes, and measures in at 6.9% abv. Snap Dragon is available on draft and at retail outlets across Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama and the Midwest until February. Blake’s permanent lineup includes the Flannel Mouth, El Chavo, Beard Bender, Wakefire and Grizzly Pear offerings.
•New York Distilling Company (NYDC) has launched Applejack Barrel Finished Ragtime Rye Whiskey, the distillery’s newest seasonal release. The whiskey is aged at least two years in oak before an additional five-month maturation period in ex-Black Dirt Applejack barrels. The rye is bottled at 50% abv and is made from 75% New York State-sourced rye. NYDC’s Applejack Barrel Finished Ragtime Rye is exclusively available in New York at a suggested price of $45 a 750-ml. Only 500 cases will be released this season.
•Houston’s Saint Arnold Brewing Co. has debuted a new beer within its Icon series. Made in collaboration with Houston-based chef Hugo Ortega, Icon Blue – Chocolate Milk Stout was brewed with 1,000 pucks of Ortega’s Mexican chocolate tablets, which were added to the beer at the end of the boil. The 5.6%-abv brew is available for a limited time in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles and at on-premise venues throughout Texas and Louisiana.
