Craft Brewing and Distilling News for February 6, 2018
February 6, 2018•Longmont, Colorado’s Left Hand Brewing is releasing a slate of new brews this month, among them year-round offering Left Hand IPA (6.6% abv), brewed with Azacca, Galaxy, and Citra hops. Also new from Left Hand are Chai Milk Nitro Stout (5% abv), a limited release from the brewer’s Nitro Can Series; Well Played (6.8% abv), a seasonal red IPA made with experimental hop BRU-1; and Saison au Miel (6.8% abv), a seasonal brewed with Colorado-sourced wildflower honey. Left Hand’s beers are distributed to 41 states and Washington, D.C.
•Orange County, California-based Offshoot Beer Co. has launched Relax Hazy IPA in California, Washington D.C. and Virginia. The 6.8%-abv ale is brewed with Citra, Centennial, Simcoe and Amarillo hops. Relax is packaged unfiltered in four-packs of 16-ounce cans. This marks the first time that Offshoot’s beers will be available outside the brewery and the distribution footprint is intentionally small to ensure that the beer arrives at its peak. Offshoot Beer Co. was created in April 2017 by Bruery founder Patrick Rue.
•Colorado’s New Belgium Brewing has appointed Shaun Belongie as vice president of marketing. The role has been vacant since last July. He joins the company from Nestle Purina North America where he served as brand director. Belongie will work directly with New Belgium vice president of sales Michael Corrigan to revamp the brewery’s digital activations, sponsored content production, and brand voice. New Belgium produced 955,000 barrels in 2017, down slightly from the previous year.
