Moët Hennessy Invests In Ardbeg To Meet Rising Demand For Islay Malts

February 20, 2018

Moët Hennessy’s Glenmorangie Co. is expanding its Ardbeg distillery with a new multi-million-pound investment. Set to be completed by 2019, the project will include a larger still house and two additional stills, bringing the Islay distillery to a total of four stills. The expansion will help the single malt Scotch brand keep pace with demand, as Ardbeg—which has more than doubled to above 20,000 cases in the U.S. over the last five years, according to Impact Databank—continues to see increased consumer interest for its peated malts. The news comes as Scotch portfoliomate Glenmorangie is on track to receive its own multi-million-pound expansion as it celebrates its 175th anniversary this year. —Christina Jelski
