February 21, 2018•Actor Ryan Reynolds has taken an ownership stake in Davos Brands’ Aviation gin. As a partial owner of the brand, Reynolds will play an active role in Aviation’s day-to-day business and oversee its creative direction as well, in an effort to introduce more consumers to the brand. Produced in Portland, Oregon, the small-batch, American dry gin—which Davos Brands acquired from House Spirits in 2016—saw substantial growth in 2017. “Last year, Aviation was up over 30% to approximately 25,000 cases,” Davos Brands CEO Andrew Chrisomalis told SND. The brand retails at $30 a 750-ml. and is available nationwide. The Davos Brands portfolio also includes Astral Tequila, Sombra mezcal and Ty Ku sake.
•Jackson Family Wines has extended its flagship Kendall-Jackson brand with a Vintner’s Reserve Rosé. Previously available in select markets, Vintner’s Reserve Rosé is launching into national distribution this month. The new offering is sourced from vineyards in Santa Barbara, Monterey, Sonoma and Mendocino Counties and fermented in stainless steel. Kendall-Jackson’s Vintner’s Reserve California Chardonnay ($17) ranked 28th among Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2017. The Kendall-Jackson brand sells above 3.4 million cases in the U.S. annually, according to Impact Databank.
•Napa’s Mayacamas has named Cathy Cohn as national sales manager. Cohn was previously national sales director at Melville Winery in the Sta. Rita Hills and Andrew Will Winery in Washington state. In her new role, she’ll work with Mayacamas director of wholesale Jimmy Hayes and owners the Schottenstein family to expand the Mayacamas brand’s national distribution.
