Brown-Forman’s $45-Million Old Forester Distillery To Open In June
April 25, 2018Brown-Forman will open Old Forester Distilling Co., its newest tourism facility and distillery, on June 14. The completion of the $45-million, 70,000-square-foot center marks the Old Forester brand’s return to downtown Louisville’s Whiskey Row, where it will be the 11th member of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
The distillery, which is the only downtown Louisville facility with its own cooperage, will be open to guests Tuesday to Saturday with tours and tastings available for $16 a person. The facility is able to produce up to 100,000 proof gallons annually and will support production for the Old Forester brand, which has been growing strongly amid the Bourbon boom.
According to Impact Databank, Old Forester was up 12% to nearly 200,000 cases in the U.S. last year, and has nearly doubled in size over the past three years. The brand, whose core Bourbon retails from $20-$25, has been active at upscale price points lately with its Whiskey Row range (around $45-$65), which now includes three expressions, each highlighting a specific period in the brand’s history, which dates to 1870.—Shane English
