May 10, 2018

•Craft Brew Alliance (CBA) has reported a net sales increase of 7% to $47.5 million for its fiscal first quarter ended March 31, as shipments rose 9% over the same period. The brewer’s depletion volumes, however, were down 4% for the quarter. Sales continued to be driven primarily by CBA’s Kona brand, which enjoyed overall depletions growth of 3% and whose flagship Big Wave Golden Ale is fast outpacing the craft beer category with first-quarter global depletions up 22%. In addition to Kona, the CBA portfolio includes the Widmer Brothers, Redhook, Omission, and Square Mile Cider brands.

•Correction: In yesterday’s story on Total Wine & More entering Colorado, it was incorrectly reported that Total has 245 stores. In fact, the current store count is 180 across 21 states, with expansion to 192 stores planned for this year.
