May 31, 2018

•San Diego-based Coronado Brewing has placed 2017 acquisition Monkey Paw Brewing up for sale. Coronado’s official release indicates that the brewers are parting ways so that Coronado can focus on its own core brands. The sale also follows a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed by Monkey Paw founder (and current minority stakeholder) Scot Blair, alleging that Monkey Paw owes him over $30,000. Going forward, Coronado says it will focus on its own 40,000-barrel brewery and core brands to combat the increasingly challenging conditions in the craft beer market.
