News Alert: The Winebow Group Names Ferrell President And CEO, Adds Import Leadership Role

May 31, 2018

The Winebow Group has appointed Dean Ferrell to the role of president and CEO. Ferrell, who most recently served as executive vice president and chief financial officer, succeeds David Townsend. Townsend will continue to serve on Winebow’s board of directors and will remain a significant shareholder in the company.

Concurrently, The Winebow Group has named Ian Downey to the newly created position of executive vice president of Winebow Imports. Formerly senior vice president and general manager of the company’s Leonardo LoCascio Selections (LLS) import unit, Downey will oversee the four divisions within Winebow’s national import business, including Craft + Estate, MundoVino, Negociants USA, and LLS. Replacing Downey as LLS senior vice president and general manager is Ted Campbell.

The executive changes come as Winebow continues to expand its footprint as both a supplier and distributor. Earlier this year, Winebow added Negociants USA—the U.S. import and distribution arm of Australia’s Yalumba—to its fold, bringing its import portfolio to around 2 million cases. Additionally, the company, whose distribution network now spans 22 states, is projected to post wholesale revenues of $780 million this year, according to Shanken’s Impact Newsletter.—Christina Jelski
