June 4, 2018•Michigan’s Traverse City Whiskey Co. is breaking ground on a new distillery. The distillery will be built within an existing 31,000-square-foot former fruit processing facility, which is set on 34 acres and will grow Traverse City Whiskey’s capacity from 400 barrels annually to 4,000 barrels. The project will also include the addition of rick houses and a visitor center. Traverse City Whiskey produces the XXX Straight Bourbon, American Cherry Edition, Barrel Proof Bourbon, North Coast Rye, and Port Barrel Finish whiskey labels.
•Oregon’s Portland Cider Co. will release its summer seasonal, Pineapple Cider, on June 2. The 6%-abv cider is made with Gala, Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, and Fuji apples, with fresh squeezed pineapples added after fermentation. Portland Cider Co.’s Pineapple Cider will be available in 22-ounce bottles and on draft through August at the company’s taprooms and at select retail locations in Oregon and Washington.
