Craft Brewing and Distilling News for June 26, 2018June 26, 2018
•Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. is adding a barrel-finished expression to its Absinthe Alembic label, amid a packaging update for the absinthe range. Copper & Kings’ new barrel-finished absinthe is at 65% abv and retails at $55 a 750-ml., in line with the flagship Absinthe Alembic Blanche. The packaging update, meanwhile, aims to align the absinthe range with the company’s other botanical spirits. It also touts the absinthes’ double-distilled alembic copper pot-distillation process, which uses no redistilled grain-neutral spirits. Copper & Kings took on Constellation Brands as a minority shareholder earlier this year.
•San Antonio, Texas-based Spoetzl Brewery has announced two new collaborative beers brewed in partnership with Canary Islands brewer Agüita Cerveza Artesanal. The new brews commemorate the tricentennial of San Antonio and the Canary Islanders who first established the city, and are the first collaborations in Spoetzl’s history. Las Canarias Ale is a Belgian-style blonde ale brewed using Gofio (a Canarian flour), Golding and Chinook hops, and Texas honey. Tenerife Ale is a Red Canary Island ale brewed with three different kinds of malt, plus oats, honey, and Cascade, Willamette, and Mosaic hops. Both beers are now available on draft and in commemorative 750-ml. bottles.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
