•Edrington has launched The Macallan M Black 2017, a collaboration between the whisky distillery, art director Fabien Baron, and Lalique. The 45%-abv non-age-statement whisky is blended from peated and unpeated malts matured in Sherry-seasoned casks and bottled in a black crystal Lalique decanter designed by Baron. The Macallan notes that this release is unusually smoky for the brand and the design of the decanter reflects that. The whisky is drawn from six casks and is limited to 725 bottles worldwide with only 40 allocated to the U.S. The Macallan M Black 2017 is now available for a suggested price of $7,000.

•California-based Vintage Wine Estates has named Terry Wheatley as president. Wheatley was previously the company’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, a role she has held since 2008 when Vintage acquired her former company Canopy Management. Vintage Wine Estates founder Pat Roney remains CEO of the group. In her new role, Wheatley will oversee wholesale sales, exclusive brands, direct-to-consumer, marketing, communications, and other functions, while production, operations, and finance will continue to report directly to Roney. Vintage Wine Estates has annual production of about 2 million cases.
