•California’s Riboli Family Wine Estates has launched Rosa 22, a new aromatic aperitivo brand sourced from Italy’s Piedmont region. A blend of 22 fruits, herbs, and botanicals, the Rosa 22 mixture is steeped for 60 days in stainless steel tanks, then cold stabilized and filtered prior to bottling. The 15%-abv aperitif is retail priced at $26 a 750-ml. and will be rolling out nationwide throughout the summer and fall.

•Tequila Don Julio has introduced Reposado Double Cask, a new limited edition offering. Double Cask is a variant on the brand’s traditional 8-month-old Reposado, which has been finished for an additional 30 days in ex-Buchanan’s Scotch barrels. The newcomer is now available at a suggested price of $60 at select retailers across the U.S. In addition, Don Julio has announced a Private Cask program launching this fall that will allow retailers to select a private barrel of 10-month-old Reposado Tequila to sell exclusively to their customers. Don Julio, owned by Diageo, was up 28% to 539,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.

•Edrington has announced that it will assume distribution of its own brands in Mexico beginning April 1, 2019, taking over from current distributor Grupo Cuervo. Crediting Cuervo with significantly growing The Macallan single malt Scotch brand in Mexico over the past 10 years, Edrington Americas CEO Chris Spalding said the move will allow Edrington to get closer to its target consumers in Mexico City and other key Mexican markets. Company veteran Juan Campos has been named managing director of the newly formed Edrington Mexico unit.

•August Wine Group has launched Sprizzeri, a new Italian wine spritzer, in the U.S. market. The cocktails are canned at 5.5% abv and come in three flavors—Classico Orange with Bitters, Lime and Elderflower, and Secco Rosé—and each is made from an Italian wine base with added flavors. Sprizzeri’s U.S. launch coincides with a boom in the popularity of canned wines and RTD cocktails. Sprizzeri is now available nationwide in 4-packs of 250-ml. cans for a suggested price of $15.
