•Diageo has partnered with HBO to produce a range of single malt labels tied in with the television series Game of Thrones, whose final season premieres in early 2019. Diageo will release eight special single malt labels this winter—each from a different distillery and each named for a different house or group from Westeros, the fictional land where much of the series is set. Whisky Advocate has the full story.

•Australian wine exports posted a 20% value increase in the year through June, despite a 4% decline in the North American market. Australian shipments to the U.S. slipped by 8% to A$424 million ($314m), offsetting a 7% increase to A$199 million ($147m) in Canada. Meanwhile, China, by far the top market for Australian wines in value terms, surged 55% to A$1.12 billion ($829m), and other leading markets like the U.K. (+12%), New Zealand (+17%), Singapore (+27%), Germany (+19%), and Japan (+15%) all recorded double-digit growth. Overall, Australian wine shipments leapt by A$450 million ($333m) last year to reach A$2.76 billion ($2b), on a 10% volume increase to 95 million 9-liter cases.
