•California-based Stone Brewing has opened its new Shanghai, China taproom, capping a three-month period of international expansion that saw the company also open facilities in Napa, California, and Berlin, Germany. The new Shanghai location, according to the company, is the first American craft-brewer-operated taproom in Asia. The 3,200-square-foot facility is the 11th venue opened by Stone and will feature 30 taps to showcase the brand. Stone Brewing is the eighth-largest craft brewer in the U.S., according to the Brewers Association.
•Burlington, Vermont’s Switchback Brewing Company has launched its namesake ale in cans for the first time. Switchback Ale clocks in at 5% abv and straddles the line between a red ale and an amber ale, according the brewer. The beer is made with yeast cultivated by the brewery and packaged unfiltered.
