Craft Brewing and Distilling News for August 30, 2018
August 30, 2018•Metallica, the pioneering thrash metal band, has partnered with WhistlePig master distiller Dave Pickerell to create Blackened American Whiskey. The 45%-abv whiskey brand is a blend of “Bourbons, ryes, and whiskeys,” finished in black brandy barrels, according to the brand. The company doesn’t reveal the exact breakdown, but says the whiskey is mostly Bourbon and 46% rye, and it doesn’t provide the provenance. While maturing in the black brandy barrels, the whiskey is blasted with Metallica’s music using a proprietary sonic-enhancement system. The first batch of 5,000 bottles is rolling out now to select locations across the U.S.
•Seattle craft brewer Ghostfish Brewing has chosen Crooked Stave Artisans Distributing to bring the brewery’s gluten-free beers to Colorado. Crooked Stave Artisans Distributing will begin bringing Grapefruit IPA, Meteor Shower Blonde Ale, and Shrouded Summit Belgian White Ale, along with seasonal releases, to the state. Ghostfish’s brews are now available in eight states across the U.S.
