News Briefs for October 15, 2018
October 15, 2018•Old Forester has launched 1910 Old Fine Whisky, the latest installment in its Whiskey Row series. The new entry pays homage to a seminal event in Old Forester’s history—the October 1910 fire that shut down the distillery’s bottling line. Whisky waiting to be bottled at the time was stored in new, charred oak containers to rest until the line could be repaired, creating what Old Forester says was the first documented example of a double-barreled whisky. The new 1910 Old Fine Whisky has likewise undergone a second barreling in a lightly toasted, heavily charred barrel. Rolling out nationally, it’s bottled at 93 proof and retails at $55 a 750-ml.
