•Vermont-based Mad River Distillers has partnered with 14th Star Brewing Co. for the third annual release of Hopscotch Vermont single malt whiskey. The whiskey was distilled by Mad River from a wash of 14th Star’s Tribute Double IPA, barrel-aged in charred American oak barrels for over two years in Mad River’s rickhouse and bottled at 92 proof. It’s launching this Friday at Mad River’s Burlington, Vermont tasting room. The Mad River brand currently includes four rums, four whiskeys, and an apple brandy, and is distributed in seven Northeastern states along with California.

•Baltimore, Maryland-based Heavy Seas Beer has launched Schnee Boot, the latest offering in the brewery’s Uncharted Waters series. The 13%-abv lager is an Eisbock brewed with German hops and malts, and aged in Bourbon barrels. Schnee Boot, the strongest beer ever released from Heavy Seas, is now rolling out throughout the brewer’s distribution footprint in 4-packs of 12-ounce bottles.

•Healdsburg, California’s Golden State Cider has appointed a new CEO and director of sales amid a period of strong growth. Chris Lacey, the company’s former VP of sales and marketing, has been promoted to CEO. Previously, he worked at DBI Beverage where he worked to grow sales of Constellation Brands’ beer portfolio. Golden State Cider’s new director of sales is Gary Fleshman, who previously served at Rogue Ales and has over two decades of sales and management experience in the alcohol and retail worlds. So far, in 2018, Golden State Cider’s sales have grown over 65%, the company reports.
