Stoli Group Details Plans For Kentucky Owl Park Distillery ProjectNovember 15, 2018
Stoli Group is moving forward with its massive Kentucky Owl Park distillery project, announcing that Shigeru Ban Architects will design the $150 million distillery and tourism facility in Bardstown, Kentucky.
Stoli Group confirmed that Kentucky Owl Park’s 1.5-million-proof-gallon capacity would be fully dedicated to whiskey and that it’s exploring both brand acquisitions and new products in the category. In addition to the production facilities, Kentucky Owl Park will feature a restaurant, visitors’ center, and a vintage train station. Stoli expects to partner with RJ Corman Railroad Company to bring tourists from Louisville to Kentucky Owl Park.
Yuri Shefler, owner of Stoli parent SPI Group, said the company is “committed to building a fitting home for this brand along with expanding our presence in whiskies overall.” Since announcing initial plans for Kentucky Owl Park last year, the company has been adamant that the namesake brand will remain a high-end, small-batch label, with the distillery’s additional capacity devoted to other whiskey projects.
The Kentucky Owl campus buildings will feature steel and timber structures designed to recall the 19th century and highlight the Bourbon-making process. The pits at the 420-acre site will be filled to create lakes to complete the transformation from a quarry into the new home of Kentucky Owl and Stoli’s new American Whiskies division.—Shane EnglishSubscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
