•Louisville-based Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. will release its much-anticipated 3-year-old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey in early 2019. The 3-year-old will be available nationwide at a retail price of $125. It joins Peerless Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, made with 2-year-old liquid, which finished at No. 15 in Whisky Advocate’s Top 20 rankings last year. Peerless was the only craft label and the lone rye on that list. The company uses sweet mash fermentation for its ryes rather than the more common sour mash method, and bottles at barrel proof.

•Beam Suntory has launched Cruzan Hurricane Proof, a new rum that will donate $1 from every case sold to hurricane relief efforts. Retailing at $20 a 750-ml., the new entry is at 137 proof and is rolling out nationally. Cruzan is based in St. Croix, which continues to rebuild following the devastation of last year’s hurricanes Maria and Irma. Cruzan was up 4.2% to 865,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
