•Albany, New York-based craft distributor Remarkable Liquids has begun distributing Mikkeller NYC beer throughout New York state. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Mikkeller opened a 10,000-square-foot brewery and restaurant at the New York Mets’ Citi Field in March. That location joined the Danish craft brewer’s existing U.S. location in San Diego, which opened in 2016. The Mikkeller NYC operation is led by executive vice president Jim Raras, Jr., formerly CFO of Vermont’s Hill Farmstead Brewery.
•Boulder, Colorado-based Cocktail Squad has introduced four canned, ready-to-drink cocktails: Gin and Tonic, Margarita, Vodka Soda, and Greyhound flavors, all at 10%-abv and gluten-free. A 4-pack of 12-ounce cans sells for $20-$24, depending on the variety. The brand was founded this year by husband-and-wife team John and Lauren Maggio to offer the craft cocktail experience to those requiring portability and convenience. The initial lineup is now available at retail throughout Colorado.
•New York hard cider producer Original Sin will augment its line of apple, pear, and other ciders with a limited Unfiltered Series. Each made with a single apple varietal, the first in the Unfiltered line—McIntosh—will arrive in early December, weighing in at 6% abv and $12 a 6-pack of cans. Fuji (5%-abv) will follow next summer, followed by limited quantities of Golden Russet and Northern Spy (both 6.7%-abv) later in the year. Founded in 1996, Original Sin has seen a 50% sales growth in 2018, spurred by the popularity of blackberry apple Black Widow cider (6%-abv).
