Beam Suntory Sales Rise By Mid Single DigitsFebruary 15, 2019
Beam Suntory posted sales up mid single digits in its fiscal year ended in December, as gains in its portfolio of whiskies and Tequila drove progress. Overall, parent group Suntory Holdings’ beverage alcohol revenue—also including beer and wine interests—increased 3.7% to ¥749 billion ($6.8b), while operating income grew 4.8% to ¥133 billion ($1.2b).
In the U.S., Beam Suntory’s flagship Bourbon, Jim Beam, was up 6.5% to nearly 5.3 million cases last year, according to Impact Databank, including its flavored offshoots. Minus flavors, the brand was up 2.7% to 3.9 million cases.
Beam Suntory’s other holdings in the U.S. also performed well, with Maker’s Mark (including Maker’s 46) up 8.8% to 1.75 million cases, according to Impact Databank, Hornitos up 24% to over 1 million cases, Knob Creek up 8.3% to 444,000 cases, and Basil Hayden’s up 39.5% to 253,000 cases. Beam Suntory’s Sauza Blue also made gains last year, up 12% to 380,000 cases.
