PGA Tour To Begin Allowing Spirits Advertising, Sponsorships

February 28, 2019

The PGA Tour will begin allowing spirits sponsorships and advertising going forward. In a statement this week, the Tour said it’s relaxing its rules to allow players to wear the names and logos of distilled spirits companies and permit broadcasters to show distilled spirits advertising and in-program exposure during PGA Tour network telecasts. The move follows a trend in recent years toward the liberalization of spirits advertising in major pro sports. Most recently, the National Football League began allowing limited spirits ads during its 2017 season.—Daniel Marsteller
