•Beam Suntory’s new Legent Bourbon, a Port Ellen 39-year-old, a Springbank 25-year-old, and a limited edition American single malt from Westland are all featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest whiskey roundup. The magazine’s website has all the details.
•Cenote Tequila has launched Cristalino, a new ultra-premium Añejo expression. Aged in American oak casks for over a year, Cenote Cristalino is filtered through activated carbon prior to bottling. The 40% abv Tequila is retail priced at $80 a 750-ml. and is currently rolling out in major markets across the U.S. Owned by Stoli Group, the Cenote lineup also includes Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo expressions, all of which are aged in American oak Bourbon barrels.
•Instacart has unveiled a new beverage alcohol shopping platform that’s accessible to 40 million households across the U.S. The delivery provider has aligned with 300 retailers, including grocers like Albertsons, Kroger, Publix, Schnucks, and Stater Bros., as well as wine and spirits speciality stores like BevMo, Binny’s Beverage Depot, and Total Wine & More. Currently, Instacart’s alcohol delivery coverage includes California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Washington, D.C. Nebraska and Michigan are also expected to come online in the coming months.
•London-based Sipsmith Gin has released its Lemon Drizzle variant in the U.S. for a limited time. The 40.4% abv spirit offers a twist on a standard London Dry gin and is distilled with lemon peel, lemon verbena, and fresh lemon. Sipsmith Lemon Drizzle is now available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $40. In 2018, Sipsmith depleted nearly 12,000 cases in the U.S. roughly doubling over the previous year. Beam Suntory took a controlling stake in Sipsmith in 2017.
•The Connacht Whiskey Company, of Ballina, Ireland, is debuting Ballyhoo Irish Whiskey, a 4-year-old expression aged in Port barrels for 3-6 months. Aged at Connacht’s distillery in County Mayo, Ballyhoo is bottled at 43% abv. Ballyhoo will be available in 14 states across the country and Washington, D.C. for $30 a 750-ml. Founded in 2016, Connacht also produces Concullin Irish Gin, Straw Boys Irish Vodka, and several other whiskies, which are also available in the U.S.
